Weekly Update

Full disclosure time - I spent much less time on crafting this week than I intended to.  Combine that with the still-agonizingly slow progress with the Mystery Crochet-Along project, and there isn't much to show.  But what I have, here you go!

Item the first: despite continued difficulties with Clue #4, I am plugging along with the CAL and have gotten about half the squares up to date.

I really do like how the color combo is coming out, and the prominence of that light, soft grey.  :-)

Item the second: more progress on the Celestial Dreams cross-stitch!  As a quick reminder, the completed image looks like this:

And my progress as of today - I found some color!  These green swirls will be the knob on top of the tallest globe.  The dark blue / black is nice to stitch because it's all in big swathes and easy to go back and forth across the row, but I really am glad to have started hitting the bright colors that are so outstanding in the pattern.

The retro Batman episodes that had been on TV last month were perfect for cross-stitching to, but unfortunately they're off the air now and I haven't found as good of a replacement yet.  I may try some interesting geeky podcasts that I found instead.

Item the third: embellishment for the scarf I'm weaving.  This pattern is from Lacy Crochet.

I was going back and forth on whether to use it for the scarf, or as a barrette; but my sister found some fabric that looks great as a backing and will help it stand out against the scarf very nicely.

Unfortunately, I was having trouble with the colors.  This is the same rose as in the picture above, and the backing fabric is actually a shiny, satiny deep green.  I hope to get a more accurate shot once it's cut out and all assembled together.
