A Week of Crafting - Days 3 & 4
I had a hard time getting settled on Wednesday - the bracelet I planned to work on had to be put aside because one of the tubes of beads went missing. Not to name any names, but I'm pretty sure a small black kitty batted it down and underneath something somewhere.
The aforementioned small black kitty, by the way, seems to feel that I shouldn't make accusations without definitive proof, which is her usual defense whenever she's done something.
What I did end up working on instead was an idea I've been tossing around for a bit - a piece of decorative crochet, as opposed to functional; something that would hang on the wall. I covered a small canvas with paper, and started making flowers to cover it with. The flowers are made from DMC embroidery floss, and are actually incomplete patterns from The Granny Square Book.

If this goes as well as I hope it will, I'll make two or three to hang up at work. Right now I have framed pages from a calendar showing fashions by Erte, which are really beautiful, but it would be nice to have something I made myself.
Thursday I worked on a blanket that I'm hopefully going to make into a tutorial - the pattern is one I came up with last year for a friend at work who was having a baby. Again, it's another adapted quilt pattern: Square in a Square.

As this gets bigger, I'm going to have to find a better way of taking pictures. :-) Here's the first blanket I made with this pattern, by the way:
I don't expect to spend too much time crafting today; plans are to go visit my niece, and then run errands, so I won't be home much. Still, I feel like I got a lot accomplished this week!

Found a book for you! http://smile.amazon.com/100-Flowers-Knit-Crochet-Embellishing/dp/0312538340/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1430495694&sr=8-1&keywords=100+crochet+flowers
ReplyDeleteVery cool! It's on my wishlist now. I'm trying not to buy all the books ever, all at once. :-) It's harder than it looks.
