Mystery Crochet-Along - first clue progress

The Crochet Crowd is hosting a mystery afghan crochet-along!  The basic idea is that each week, the next step in the pattern is released, and you follow along without knowing what the end result will be until you get there.  They've done a couple of these last year that I did not take part in, which ended up being amigurumi-style stuffed animals; this time it's a blanket, so I jumped right in.

The pattern requires 4 skeins of one color, and 2 each of three other colors.  Here's what I chose:

Tuesday, the first clue was released: 20 granny squares of the dominant color.   I've finished 9 so far.

They make me very happy!  I love that the yarn is so soft; it's very pleasant to work with and gives me great hope for the comfyness of the finished blanket eventually.

I know today I'm posting on Thursday (due to unexpected schedule changes at work) but for the rest of the crochet-along, I'm going to try to show updates every Wednesday.
